The Chi of Calligraphy and Chinese Brush Painting Students explore two revered disciplines of the Chinese literati: Shu (calligraphy) and Hua (painting). Exotic Animals Bold and Beautiful Students are introduced to treasures of the animal world, exploring their homes and habitats, pals and predators. Creative expression includes puppetry, mask making, the "music" of animal communication, and the "dance" of animal movement. Beginners welcome.

Make Me a Math Master Problem Solving becomes "no problem" with this creative class for making math manageable. Through educational games and interactive mini lessons, students learn problem solving strategies and explore a full menu of topics including geometry, probability, and logic. We'll make our own tangram and pentomino puzzles, write and solve our own equations and develop logic grids to crack the code. Children will finally have the chance to "play" with all those math manipulatives when they learn...and master...by doing.
Writing Workshop: Take Me With You Travel Journal This creative writing and publishing class inspires students to document imaginary "trips" to both foreign and familiar places. Internet, travel brochures, and storybook research provide the creative tools for a once-in-a-lifetime itinerary. The souvenir? Self published, short stories and books that make you wish you were there. The workshop concludes with an "Author's Chair" where all students share their favorite work.
The Enchanting Eric Carle Part author study, part fan letter, this class celebrates the science and sentiment of a most beloved storyteller. Students express their appreciation for both Carle and the animal world through artistic interpretation, puppetry, music, and dramatic play. Beginners welcome.
I Can Build That! From Maps to Monuments. Scale a skyscraper. Build a bridge. Create a coliseum. The classroom becomes a construction site when children engineer their own sculptural creations (or re-model modern marvels) using recycled materials and their unique sense of design. Beginners welcome.
Learn It. Type It. A Workshop on Chinese Character Recognition. Beyond the basics, students practice Pinyin using computer games, riddles
and word searches. Craft a letter, label a map, email a penpal across the
globe--this class gets kids writing and recognizing characters on the
computer. Consider it an electronic vocabulary boost. (Note: language

Radiant Rain ForestGrab your gear! Students explore this magical, mythical, ecological wonder. From graphing its precipitation to meetings its inhabitants, both endangered and abundant. Children will enjoy storytelling, music, dramatic play, and environmental awareness. Beginners welcome.
Travel Bug This class is the ultimate stay-cation. Students set their own fantastical itinerary and get busy with the preparations. Hands-on topics include weather and wardrobe, currency and cuisine. Weird and Wonderful Science Kids are curious. This class fuels interest in what happens next…and why. Concepts of observation, organization, and comparison are explored through hands-on procedures and experiments. Students will communicate and illustrate facts and findings. Beginners welcome.
Hit the Road: 4 Fantastic Field Trips It's an all day affair when the Buds van transforms into The Magic Schoolbus for a learning experience on-the-go. We trade the 4 walls of the classroom for 4 kid-friendly attractions. On non-travel days, students get expressive, recording what they saw through art, poetry and story--and preparing for their next adventure. Possible outings include hiking, museums, aquariums and zoos. What to bring? A bag lunch. We supply the transportation and the chaperones. (Note: this class meets from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM so students must sign up for both morning and afternoon camp sessions. Additional admission fees apply. Language assessment required prior to placement.)
